Nut-Free Raw Cacao Balls Ingredients

2 Cups Shredded coconut
1.5 Cups Cacao Powder
1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
1/2 Cup Raw Honey
1/2 Cup Currants
Optional: Vanilla Extract,
 Cinnamon, Peppermint Oil

Raw Cacao Balls satisfy our Primal sweet tooth!

Notes

– All ingredients organic where possible.

– You can also use cocoa butter, but it’s certainly more expensive and harder to find than coconut oil.

– To sweeten , I like to use raw unpasteurised bush honey. We buy it from our local farmers market . You can also use organic raw sugar like Panela (Rapadura), a very raw and unprocessed sugar. You can also use something like Stevia which is a herb from South America. It is an all natural sweetner as well.

– You can also add lots of different ingredients to suit your own taste. I like to use currants, as a little bit of dried fruit  gives a nice sweet taste to it.

Nut-Free Raw Cacao Balls Recipe

Step 1: Add two cups of shredded coconut to a mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add one and a half cups of cacao powder.

Step 3: Add half a cup of raw honey. The honey should slide out of the cup easier when the cacao powder has been in there prior.

Step 4: Add half a cup of coconut oil. When the oil is solid at room temperature, you can heat / melt the coconut to make it easier to add to the mixture.

Step 5: Add half a cup of currants and any extra ingredients you desire.

Step 6: Mix! Mix! Mix! Use a spatula or get in there with your hands.

Step 7: Start tasting it. Add ingredients to change taste to your liking.

Step 8: Roll the mixture into balls. Place shredded coconut onto a plate and roll the balls onto the coconut.

Step 9: Place in fridge for at least 30 minutes to solidify.

Step 10: The Cacao Balls are ready. Eat them!!

How Milk Became So Dangerous

The conflicting information is driving us all mad!! On the one hand we hear: Milk Does a Body Good!. It’s essential for calcium requirements, Vitamin D, strong bones and healthy children. On the other hand we hear: Milk causes mucus. It leads to lactose intolerance and ear infections. It’s too fatty. It contains Bovine Growth Hormone. Our societal response to this confusion is low-fat milk, skim milk, no-fat milk, soy milk, rice milk, almond milk, oat milk, organic milk, BGH-free milk, no milk. Just more confusion. So what’s gone wrong and where do we go from here?

I Dream of Organic Food in Greece!

After reading this, I’d hope you feel the same! As a an advocate of all things Primal, eating organic food is by far my favourite tenet I preach to people.
